Police said that armed men ambushed the vehicle of the police official while it was passing through Nawan Kaley area of Quetta.
Muhammad Ilyas, his son Ali, daughter in-law and a grandson were martyred in the armed attack, while a two-and-a-half-year-old girl sustained bullet wounds.
The attackers fled the scene after committing the quadruplet murder.
The bodies and the injured were moved to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The police cordoned off the area after the attack and launched a search operation for the arrest of the assailants. However no arrest had been made until the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, 15 bullet-riddled bodies were discovered by the Levies personnel in Balochistan’s Kech district on Wednesday morning, officials said.
A senior administration officer told a private news channel that the forces found the bodies in the Gorak area of Buleda tehsil. “All the victims received multiple bullets from a close range,” he said.
The victims were apparently from Punjab. Upon discovery of the bodies, Levies and Frontier Corps personnel reached the area and shifted the bodies to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Turbat.
A search operation was launched in the area but no arrests had been made so far.
It has not been confirmed whether the victims were labourers or illegal immigrants trying to enter Europe via Iran, the officer said.
