LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the Supreme Court to reopen 28 cases against Sharif brothers for their alleged wrongdoings.

Addressing a press conference at the chairman’s secretariat after the hearing in the chief minister’s disqualification petition at the Lahore High Court on Tuesday, PTI leader Babar Awan said that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report had confirmed that assets of the Sharif family did not match sources of their income. Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, legislators Mian Aslam Iqbal, Sadia Sohail Rana and Ali Salman were also present on the occasion.

He said that it was very surprising to know that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had gifted whopping Rs 6 billion to his elder brother Nawaz Sharif.

He said that the premier was not only receiving a salary of 5,000 dirham from a Dubai-based company but he was also willing to get residence from the same company in

He said that both Sharif brothers had brought shame on country for their alleged involvement in corruption. He said that democracy would not be derailed if Sharif brothers tendered their resignations.

He demanded the top cop in Punjab to file an application in the court to make public the Justice Baqar Najafi report on Model Town killings.

He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was being run by Maryam Nawaz. Referring to rumours of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan differences with party’s top leadership, he questioned if there was no difference between the interior minister and Sharif brothers why the former was not being allowed to address a press conference.

He concluded by saying that Sharif brothers days were numbered.
