Addressing party workers at the death anniversary of PPP’s late general secretary Jahangir Badr here at his residence, the Bilawal said Nawaz Sharif was trying to make the Panama Papers case controversial just to save his own skin. But the people of Pakistan are well aware of the facts and will not let escape attempts by Sharif family successful, he said, adding justice will be served in Hudaibiya case and the Model Town case as well. “Nawaz can’t be saved now,” he opined.
Talking about the fast changing political situation of Karachi, especially in the wake of war of words between Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal, the PPP chairman said Karachi’s political situation was getting odd at the moment, adding “a strange game is being played with the people of Karachi.”
“We are struggling to give Karachi a sense of ownership and we believe that Karachi’s citizens won’t pay heed to these puppet politicians,” Bilawal said, adding like all the previous ‘puppets’ in Karachi, they too have failed.
Bilawal said the ongoing politics in Karachi was troubling. “PPP has always stayed true to its vision. The party has always strived to uphold the supremacy of the democracy and the constitution,” he said, adding that his party will not allow any anti-democratic step.
He said that if PPP comes into power, it will bring development to Karachi through a ‘clean’ leadership. He assured the people that his party would give the real ownership to the people of Karachi as the PPP was the only party which always stood with the people with its unchanged manifesto and ideology of serve the nation.
Earlier in the day, Bilawal said in a tweet that the recent political developments in Karachi were a farce, adding that the city deserved better.
He was referring to developments last week between MQM-P and PSP who announced a political alliance, but then proceeded to hurl serious allegations against each other, including that the two were brought to the table by the ‘establishment’.
Paying tribute to late Jehangir Badr for his loyalty with the party and its leadership, Bilawal said that he never inched away from the ideology of the PPP and for the very reason workers would give him respect and salute him from Khyber to Karachi. He said Jehangir Badr was the name of struggle that would never be forgotten.
