PSL 3 players drafting ceremony held in Lahore

LAHORE: The drafting of players for the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) held in Lahore on Sunday.

The six teams including Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans selected players for the third edition of domestic T20 league.

The teams were required to pick one player from each Platinum, Diamond and Gold Category, two players form Silver category and two Emerging players, in addition to the already retained nine players to make a squad of 16 players. However, teams also had an option to pick four more players in supplementary rounds.

A total of 501 players, foreign and local, were available for selection. Each team had a salary cap of $1.2 million for a squad of 20 players.

Platinum category

  • Lahore Qalandars have picked Australian batsman Chris Lynn form platinum category.
  • Islamabad United got African all-rounder JP Duminy, while Karachi Kings successfully bid for Colin Ingram of South Africa.
  • Quetta Gladiators took Australian all-rounder Shane Watson on board.
  • Multan sultans have drafted South African spin-bowler Imran Tahir.
  • Peshawar Zalmi have picked West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Diamond category

  • Lahore Qalanders have successfully decided on Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rehman in the diamond category.
  • Islamabad United have included New Zealand batsman Luke Ronchi in the team.
  • Karachi Kings have picked Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson.
  • Quetta Gladiators have drafted West Indies skipper Carlos Brathwaite.
  • Multan Sultans have drafted West Indies batsman Darren Bravo.
  • Peshawar Zalmi have picked Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal.

Gold category

  • Lahore Qalandars drafted all-rounder Bilal Asif.
  • Islamabad United have picked batsman Faheem Ashraf.
  • Karachi Kings have picked English pacer Luke Wright.
  • Quetta Gladiators have drafted fast bowler Rahat Ali.
  • Multan Sultans have picked batsman Ahmed Shehzad.
  • Peshawar Zalmi have picked all-rounder Hammad Azam.

Silver category

  • Lahore Qalandars have drafted all-rounder Sohail Akthar and spin bowler Raza Hasan in this category.
  • Islamabad United have drafted batsman Sam Billings and Zafar Gohar.
  • Karachi Kings have picked all-rounder David Wiese and Tabish Khan.
  • Quetta Gladiators have drafted batsman Saad Ali and Rameez Raja Jr.
  • Multan Sultans successfully included fast bolwler Mohammad Abbas and wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran.
  • Peshawar Zalmi have picked batsman Taimur Sultan and all-rounder Saad Nasim.

Emerging Players category

  • Lahore Qalandars took pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ghulam Mudassar.
  • Islamabad United drafted batsmen, Hussain Talat and Sahibzada Farhan.
  • Quetta Gladiators have drafted spin bowler Hasan Khan and all-rounder Saud Shakeel.
  • Karachi Kings have picked all-rounder Mohammad Irfan Jr and fast bowler Hasan Mohsin.
  • Multan Sultans have picked batsman Abdullah Shafiq and all-rounder Saif Badar.
  • Peshawar Zalmi have picked all-rounder Ibtisam Sheikh and pacer Sameen Gul.

Supplementary players

  • Lahore Qalandars drafted Angelo Mathews, Mitchell McClenaghan and Gulraiz Sadar.
  • Islamabad United drafted Alex Hales, David Willey, Mohammad Hasan and Mohammad Hasnain.
  • Quetta selected Jason Roy, Rashid Khan, Azam Khan and Faraz Ahmed Khan.
  • Peshawar Zalmi opted for Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis, Khalid Usman and Mohammad Arif.
  • Multan Sultans signed Hardus Viljoen, Umar Gul, Umar Sadique and Ross Whiteley.
  • Karachi Kings signed Colin Munro, Eoin Morgan and Saifullah Bangash.
