QUETTA: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Yasmin Lehri said the role of teachers is important for implementation of laws to achieve lasting peace and protection of human rights in society. She said democracy was best way for resolution of issues in the country. “There had been a lack of confidence between various departments and parliamentarians for implantation of law which would be improved through collective efforts for strengthening of peace in the region,” she added. Yasmin expressed these views during a two-day training session organised by Balochistan University in collaboration with Higher Education Commission. Former minister for education Zubaida Jalal also attended the session and said that fundamental education was the primary source of positive change in society, adding that provincial government would take measures to have more teachers across districts of Balochistan. “Without education, we cannot maintain peace in the society,” she said. She also said there was a lack of science teachers in the high schools of the province. She noted that work had been done to facilitate the private organisations of education for quality education. Former Quetta Press Club president Shahzada Zulfiqar said that people of media were playing an important role to make people aware of importance of peace in society. He said government should take measures to provide jobs to qualified students so they can play their due role for betterment of society. Parliament Legislation Director Dr Kashif assured that collective steps would be taken for strengthening peace in the region. He also thanked the participants who attended the training. Human rights activist Fatima said that change could be started from our own homes, adding that women play a pivotal role in all facets of society. BARGAD Joint Director Salma Butt said that such programmes should be arranged in universities to raise awareness among youth to protect human rights in society.
