KARACHI: A policeman was shot dead after two assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on him in the city’s Shadman area on Wednesday.
According to Shadman Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mushtaq Tanoli, the policeman, identified as Naveed, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to injuries on the way.
Naveed was deployed at the Special Branch in the Gadap area.
Earlier, two officials of the traffic police were martyred in the line of duty in Azizabad on August 12.
On May 21, two police officers were killed and one injured in a firing incident near Dhoraji area.
Not long ago, a police vehicle was shot at, resulting in the instant deaths of assistant sub-inspector Iftikhar and head constable Younus.
