Nine outlaws arrested; hashish and weapons seized

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Tuesday arrested nine outlaws, including three drug pushers, and seized 580 grams of hashish and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said that Sub-Inspector Faiz Gondal of Noon Police Station arrested drug pusher Raja Irshad during special checking and seized 230 grams of hashish from him.

Sub-Inspector Azhar Mehmood from Bhar Kahu Police arrested a drug pusher, Rashid Mehmood, and seized 250 grams hashish from him. ASI Muhammad Riaz arrested a bootlegger Usman and seized two bottles of liquor from him.

Sub-Inspectors Muhammad Mushtaq and Muhammad Raiz from Golra Police Station arrested four accused: Idrees, Usman, Atif Sharif and Bilal Ahmed, involved in selling petroleum products illegally and refilling gas in cylinders. ASI Muhammad Afzal from Shehzad Town Police Station arrested Baqir and seized a handgun along with ammunition from him. ASI Muhammad Nawaz from Khanna Police Station arrested Azhar Mehmood and seized two handguns and ammunition from him. Cases have been registered against these suspects and further investigation is underway. Islamabad SSP Sajid Kiani appreciated the performance of the policemen and directed all police officials to remain vigilant in their respective areas and ensure the arrest of drug pushers. He also asked to ensure effective patrolling measures in the city and curb incidents of car lifting.

Thief arrested: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police arrested an accused involved in stealing cash from shops and recovered Rs 130,000 from him.

A special team, headed by CIA DSP Ashraf Shah, including ASI Iftikhar Ahmed arrested an accused Imtiaz, a resident of Sheikhupura, and recovered Rs 130,000 from him. He confessed to stealing cash from the drawers of various shops from Karachi Company Market. Further investigation is underway from him and police is hopeful for making more recoveries.
