PESHAWAR: A key Al-Qaeda commander was killed in last week’s U.S. drone strike in the restive North Waziristan tribal region, a Pakistani official said on Tuesday.

Iraqi Abdul Raheem in his mid 30s was an ‘important’ commander of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the official told foreign media.

At least eight suspected militants loyal to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in the drone strike on April 26 on the outskirts of the town of Datta Khel, which borders neighboring Afghanistan, which was the first since President Donald Trump took office.
