Faryal Makhdoom does bridal shoot against all odds through her pregnancy

It’s true when they say that a woman is unstoppable when she realises she deserves better. It of course takes courage to be you once you learn to start to assert your needs and act on your purpose and courage isn’t about going off to war, conquering the ills of the world, putting yourself in the line of fire or doing superhuman tasks like Wonder Woman does. It’s simply about being true to your core. And, that comes with a tinge of ‘scary’. Fierce and scary! Here is pregnant Faryal Makhdoom just weeks after her split from husband Amir Khan and last but not least, him branding his estranged wife a “Kylie Jenner plastic surgery obsessive” in a string of sordid messages that called out to her.

Well, when the worst comes to our fighter girls of today, they use all their courage to tap into their stripped down raw selves and be reborn, without fear of judgment, hurt or failure.

Clad in an assemblage of glamorous flowy bridal gowns coming from the works of Pakistani designer Sobia Nazir, Faryal Makhdoom has managed to steal the hearts of many in the “gorgeous” and “stunning” attire.

Amir Khan took to Twitter earlier this year to announce the split from his 26-year old wife, going through her second pregnancy: “So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best.”

This was followed by a series of explosive tweets that were exchanged between the couple.

“After all these years. I’ve always defended a cheat, always stuck around for him, always had his back,” said a beat-up Makhdoom claiming Khan repeatedly slept with other women during their four-year marriage.

In September, Khan shattered all her hopes of resurrecting their relationship as he confirmed that the couple was still getting a divorce.

In late September, Makhdoom went back on admitting to her past mistakes and apologizing for all the ‘infighting’ between her and Khan’s parents, which she revealed had amounted to a “terrible effect” on her marriage.

“I now recognise that all this infighting between me and my in-laws has had a terrible effect on my husband and I. And for that, I would like to sincerely apologise,” she wrote in writing.

She went on to say, “My mother and father-in-law are the elders of our family and as such, deserve love and respect just as much as my own parents do. I’ve said things in the past out of anger that I didn’t really mean and regret now.”

“My daughter and unborn child do not deserve a broken home. That is why I have decided that it is time to put our differences behind us, and start afresh. All families go through hard times. It is unfortunate for us that our difficulties were played out so publicly. I also apologize for my part in that,” she further added.

Despite Makhdoom’s incessant attempts at making things right, ex-husband Khan has failed to see her eye to eye in terms of any attempts of reconciliation for their marriage.

“Unfortunately it didn’t work out between me and Faryal and we are still going ahead with the divorce. We are in good talking terms,” he Tweeted last.

All this racket and pent-up dismay hasn’t stopped Makhdoom from doing what she loves and challenging herself through the dynamic excess of layers that unfold in her work.

She wishes to instil the same kind of strength, courage and exuberance in her three-year-old daughter Lamaisah’s life, vouching for her to be “independent and strong” and deliver even more than her strengths allow her to.

In conversation with Mai Online, this is what Makhdoom said, “In life you go through really hard times and realize that you come into this world alone and you leave alone. So, I want my daughter to be an independent and strong woman.”

She went on to say, “It’s so important to concentrate on her studies and be independent and be an example for us Muslim women. Sometimes you need a man to depend on in certain cultures and religion but I think the most important thing is to be your own person.”
