Gujranwala police launch crackdown on beggars

GUJRANWALA: District police launched an operation against beggars with many beggars sent to DHQ Hospital for medical checkup. Police spokesman said that there were many complaints about the increasing number of beggars in the city while many of them were also involved in criminal activities. It was due to this reason that district police CPO gave directions to start a campaign against beggars.

Following a search operation, the beggars found to be disabled were shifted to DHQ Hospital for medical checkup. The spokesman further said that after receiving the medical reports, the beggars were sent to district jail.

Encroachments removed: On the directions of the mayor, the corporation officers, acting on the directions Municipal Corporation Mayor removed encroachments on G.T road and seized the equipment.

CIA arrests dacoits: CIA police arrested three members of a dacoit gang and recovered Rs 150,000, cell phones, and illegal weapons from them. Addressing the media, CIA DSP Imran Abbas Chadhar said that Foju gang was involved in dozens of robbery incidents in the province. He further said that CIA police arrested the gang’s leader Afzal who went by the name Foju, along with two members Ali Raza and Qasim.

Row between PHA and exhibition workers: The workers of an industrial exhibition and the PHA officials got into a fight over a dispute on the installation of a banner at G.T road.

The workers of the industrial exhibition were busy installing banners at G.T road when PHA officials intercepted them for doing that without permission. A quarrel ensued which developed into a fight where both parties started beating each other with sticks.
