Edhi Foundation to be given temporary office in Thatta

HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed Hyderabad commissioner to take necessary measures for provision of office space to Edhi Foundation in Thatta so that they could continue unhindered welfare services there.

Taking notice of Faisal Edhi and Balqis Edhi’s press conference, Murad said nobody would be allowed to grab property or disturb their welfare services. Hyderabad commissioner said he was informed that the local administration of Thatta had not shut Edhi centre, instead it had been shut on the orders of court. Following this the Chief Minister ordered the provision of an adequate space to Edhi Foundation for establishment of centre at Thatta till the case reaches a verdict. In other news, a young man identified as Ahmed Ali Arain who was a student of 4th year in Doctor of Pharmacy programme in Sindh University was killed by a water tanker near the Sindhology Department of the university on Thursday. Ahmad was riding his motorcycle when he was killed by the water tanker. His body was shifted to Liaquat University’s hospital where vice chancellor of the university and faculty members condemned his death.

Students held protest against the rash driving of heavy vehicles through the entry and exit points of the university. Vice chancellor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat said that the administration has already appealed to the National Highway Authority (NHA) to take action against the drivers of vehicles that overspeed on roads near the university.

Meanwhile, a father and daughter died in a road accident near Kumb, the police said.

The man, aged 50, and his daughter, aged 6, died when a truck collided with their motorcycle near Old National Highway. After dealing with the legal formalities at Kot Deji Hospital, the police handed over the bodies to heirs. Police also arrested the truck driver.

In similar news, Shahid Hussain Dangraj, aged 5, drowned in a water course near Benazir Colony.
