No proof found against Nawaz in London: Maryam

Author: NNI

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said the evidence against Sharif family was being fabricated and the Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had approached British authorities in the UK but later returned to Pakistan after they failed in garnering any incriminating evidence.

Talking to media persons outside the accountability court, she deplored the graft proceedings against her family members, complaining the verdict of the case was announced prior to the trial. Applauding Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz’s endeavours for upholding democracy, Maryam said the country was passing through a phase in which touting democracy was being deemed as a criminal offense.

“If [former] PM Nawaz Sharif was disqualified merely for possessing a foreign work-permit then why the law is restricted to him”, she questioned. Responding to a question over VIP accountability, she said her family members were appearing before the court despite her mother undergoing treatment. Earlier today, an accountability court issued bailable arrest warrants for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in two graft references and directed police to produce him before court until November 3, date for the next hearing.
