From the looks of its trailer, ‘Rangreza’ seems to be an intense musical tale that is certainly not your mainstream love triangle
Pakistan’s once-withering film industry is in full bloom this year. With ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ and ‘Na Maloom Afraad 2’ exploring a myriad of genres ranging from romance and comedy to drama and tragedy, some more potential blockbusters are on their way to be at the receiving end of both critical acclaim and commercial success.
The promo of actress Hareem Farooq’s ‘Parchi’, Mahira Khan’s ‘Verna’ and actor and writer Shaan Shahid’s ‘Arth’ has already blown critics and audiences alike with their sheer greatness. Now causing even greater uproar at the box office, is the power-packed trio of Urwa Hocane, Bilal Ashraf and Gohar Rasheed behind the star-studded trailer launch of ‘Rangreza’.
The trailer launch was a glamorous affair attended by a number of celebrities and reputable names from the showbiz industry in an event hosted at a local hotel in Karachi. From Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Aisha Khan, Armeena Rana Khan, Javed Sheikh, Hania Amir and Ramsha Khan, superstars from all walks of life came forward to show the movie some love.
From the looks of its trailer, ‘Rangreza’ seems to be an intense musical tale that is certainly not your mainstream love triangle. It gives us a hint to all the emotions we will be seeing in the movie – that of love, joy, anger and sadness which perfectly weave into each other showing a blend of two different cultures of music that evolve throughout the plot of the movie
Glimpses from the trailer show Bilal Ashraf in his killer rock-star role and as a force to be reckoned with. On the other hand, we are smitten by Urwa Hocane’s desi attire and fierce acting. However, it is Gohar Rasheed sporting his badass avatar that has seized the spotlight and simply left all the ladies “hooked!” Last but not least, we also catch sight of him in his track where he continues to amuse us with his moves with the transgender community.
Marking itself as one of the most expensive Pakistani film productions to date, ‘Rangreza’ is a musical romance directed by Aamir Mohiuddin, all set to release on December 21 this year as it comes in direct clash with ‘Arth – The Destination’. Celebrities can’t stop raving about the trailer and fans can’t wait to witness yet another box office brawl this New Year’s!
The trailer launch which was organised by Take 2 was attended by many celebrities and reputable people from the showbiz industry. The launch event also featured musical performances by Israr Shah, J Ali and qawwal Hamza Akram.
Emotions of love, joy, anger and sadness are perfectly complimented showing two different cultures of music, which evolve through the plot of the movie.
Musical legend Abida Parveen features prominently on the sound tracks, composed by the film’s writer Akhtar Qayyum. Asrar Shah has also contributed with his amazing energy and vocals. The film is presented by Vision Art Films, Usman Malkani Films, Distribution Club Ltd, Munir Hussain Films UK and Pepe’s Piri Piri and will be distributed worldwide by B4U Motion Pictures.
“I’m very excited to bring another highly anticipated film, which will showcase the growing strength of Pakistani cinema. We have some creative plans in place for the release and we are grateful to all the partners especially B4U Motion Pictures and IMGC Global Pakistan for their excellent support and guidance,” Munir Hussain said.
“The movie has all the elements and emotions in it and you will see a very natural depiction of our society in the movie,” Aamir Mohiuddin said.
“We are delighted to be further commenting our great partnership with Munir Hussain Films UK with the release of ‘Rangreza’, following unprecedented success of our previous outing together, ‘Janaan’. Munir Hussain has such a pioneering and passionate vision for Pakistani cinema on a global platform and we are honoured to be jointly taking Pakistani cinema to another level with ‘Rangreza’, across a record number of international territories,” Sunil Shah of B4U said.
