LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman said on Tuesday that known political personalities were in contact with him, expressing his hopes for a major breakthrough in Punjab.

The former president, who was chairing a meeting with ticket holders of Sargodha division Tuesday, directed the PPP leaders to brace for the upcoming elections. “We will contest with full might in Punjab,” Zardari said.

He claimed that several notable names from Punjab will join PPP in the coming days. He assured that his party would win the elections from the largest province, as well as from the centre. He recalled how the previous election was “manipulated by returning officers (ROs)”.

Zardari has been actively campaigning in both Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He lauded his supporters and called them the reason he believes that his party can win in any fair election.

He said PPP would turn around the existing political scene. Zardari pointed out that the government had destroyed economy. “There should be one law for all in the country. The ‘VIP accountability’ is sending the wrong message.”

The delegation of PPP Sargodha included Tasnim Ahmed Qureshi, Malik Khalid Awan, Malik Rizwan Asif, Malik Khalid Dad, Naeem Sadiq, Sajjad Khan Baloch and Malik Anwer Baloch.
