THARPARKAR: The illegal construction by land grabbers in the premises of a archaeological site, situated in the Chelhar town, caused destruction of a Fort of the Mirs. The Land grabber mafia is establishing new building on the site after pulling down the antique structure. Reejhu Mal, District Council member moved a resolution in district council meeting and demanded the archaeology department to preserve and maintain the historic Chelhar Fort. He also expressed concern over the crumbling condition owing to stripping of its bricks. Bharumal Amrani, renowned poet, writer and social activist, Shahab Nohrio, Ghazi Nohrio and others who led the protest told the media that despite their continuous demonstrations, the concerned authorities were not ready to take any action against the involved people in the destruction of the historic fort built in 1800 by Mir Fateh Mohammad Talpur. Bharumal was of the view that that forts constructed by the Talpur rulers including Mir Karam Ali Khan and Mir Fateh Mohammad Khan and others in Chelhar, Diplo, Islamkot, Sengario, Mithi and Khadi faced the hazard of demolition at the hands of the land-grabber mafia. He further said that local forest officers had already sold the land surrounding the fort to powerful individuals.
