KARACHI: The number of women killing themselves in the metropolis has been rising mainly due to infidelity among spouses as three more females including a teenager ended their lives in different areas of the city on Friday.
In Gulistan e Juhar area one teenager, 17- year-old girl namely Sajida was found unconscious early Friday morning in her room. According to area SHO, Israr Afridi, the family of deceased took her to the near by hospital where doctors confirmed her dead. Doctor informed that she consumed intoxicated drug during late night which caused her death. After confirmation of death her family took her dead body back to house for burial, police has registered a case to investigate the matter further.
Meanwhile in the jurisdiction of PS FB Area a 42 years old woman namely Marwa on Friday morning was found dead in her room situated in Block 9, she was taken to the hospital for autopsy while husband of deceased told police in his statement that his wife had quarreled with his son and after exchange of some hot words she went in to her room and took poison.
However, Tariq Raheem, SHO FB Area Police Station told Daily Times that the brother of deceased, Marwa, in his statement has alleged that his sister was poisoned and requested to register the case as a murder. According to police a case has been lodged.
In the jurisdiction of PS Sachal a 45 years old woman resident of Ali Town Apartment in Super Highway was also found dead in her room on Friday. Deceased was identified as Maria whose family took her dead body for burial without postmortem.
It is pertinent to mention that during just last one week at least 10 cases of suicide have been reported in different police stations of metropolis which can be considered an alarming situation according to a famous psychiatrist.
“The families who are taking deceased with out postmortem, its absolutely illegal and against the law because it can not be certain without postmortem that whether deceased was murdered or committed suicide. Even there is a law and officials need to follow. It is a duty of medico legal officers and relevant police station to make sure that postmortem and autopsy has been performed” said JPMC official Dr. Semi Jamali.
In charge of forensic team, Tariq Jadoon, told Daily times that in the investigation of some cases portrayed as suicide were later established as murder therefore it has been decided that in every incident of suicide SHOs will call Forensic experts before shifting the bodies to the hospital so that all the evidence can be collected.
