DUHS completes 25 renal transplants

KARACHI: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy congratulated the faculty and students of Dow Institute of Medical Education, after completion of twenty five cases of renal transplants in last seven months at Ojha campus. He said that next year bone marrow transplant operations will also be started, while ten operations of liver transplant had been successfully completed as well. He was speaking as the chief guest at a workshop organized by DIME after completion of 25 cases of renal Transplant.

Assistant prof. Dr. Rashid bin Hamid, Dr Sabahat, Dr. Tassaduq Khan, Dr. Rehan Nasir Khan, Dr. Shobha Lakshmi and others also delivered lectures during the event. Quraishy added that what was taught through the workshop would work to serve the humanity in practical life.

During the event, Dr. Rashid Bin Hamid said the participants at Ojha campus, Sindh’s second transplant centre in the public sector, started renal transplants after March 1, 2017. He said, in private and public sector, 30 transplant centres and 180 dialysis centres were working throughout the country. He said the DUHS had also established a national institute of solid organ and tissue transplantation (NISSOT).
