KHAIRPUR: Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) Khairpur had been overcharging consumers for a long time, it was reported. Customers with air conditioners installed complained of receiving electricity bills of up to Rs 23,000; whereas customers without air conditioners complained of being charged up to Rs 12,000 by SEPCO Khairpur.
The consumers said their regular visits to Sukkur Electric Power Company offices to get their bills adjusted were in vain and SEPCO officials ask them for bribes to adjust their bills.
Consumers also said they had been receiving detection bills of Rs 12,000-Rs 20,000 every three months.
A social worker, Ghaffar Mahar, said no one was sincerely interested to resolve the issues of detection bills and overcharging and Sukkur Electric Power Company officers were freely looting consumers by issuing inflated bills.
