Irfan moves LHC to get his name removed from ECL

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) to remove his name from the Exit Control List (ECL). Irfan’s lawyer, Qadeer Khan, filed the petition on the fast-bowler’s behalf which said that the petitioner had completed his ban and should be allowed to fly out of Pakistan. An application was also sent to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Interior Ministry which said that Irfan wanted to perform pilgrimage (Umrah). When inquired, the PCB said they did not demand any player’s name to be entered in the ECL and if Irfan’s name is removed from the list, they would not have issues. Irfan was banned for six months for not reporting an approach made by bookies during the second edition of the Pakistan Super League. After completing his ban period, he is currently representing WAPDA in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
