Pakistan Women defeated the West Indies by 65 runs in their third match in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Monday.

This victory brings Pakistan’s points tally to six, positioning them favorably in the race for World Cup qualification.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan set a competitive target of 192 runs.

In response, the West Indies struggled against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. They were all out for 126 in 39.2 overs.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews was dismissed on the first ball of the innings, setting a challenging tone for the chase.

Despite efforts from Stafanie Taylor (17), Shemaine Campbelle (14), Zaida James (4), Jannillea Glasgow (18), and Shabika Gajnabi (21), the team couldn’t build substantial partnerships.

Pakistan’s bowling was spearheaded by captain Fatima Sana, who claimed three wickets. Nashra Sandhu and Rameen Shamim supported effectively, taking two wickets each, while Sadia Iqbal contributed with one wicket.

Earlier, Pakistan scored 191 runs for all out in 49.5 overs.

Pakistan’s innings was anchored by Sidra Ameen, who top-scored with a composed 54 runs.

Muneeba Ali added a valuable 33, while Sidra Nawaz contributed 23 runs.

All-rounder Aliya Riaz chipped in with 20, and Omaima Sohail made 16 runs.

Lower down the order, Diana Baig scored 14, captain Fatima Sana managed 15, while Gull Feroza and Rameen Shamim made 2 runs each.

On the bowling front, the West Indies displayed a disciplined effort.

Afy Fletcher and Hayley Matthews led the attack, picking up two wickets each, while Aaliyah Alleyne, Karishma Ramharack, and Sheneta Grimmond took one wicket apiece to keep Pakistan from posting a bigger total.

With this win, Pakistan has accumulated six points from three matches.

They are set to face Thailand on April 17 and Bangladesh on April 19.

Securing a victory in either of these matches would guarantee Pakistan’s spot in the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held in India later this year.
