ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Awaran in Balochistan on Saturday and said the army would continue to facilitate development efforts in the province.
The army chief was briefed on the security situation and community assistance initiatives by the army and the Frontier Corps (FC) in southern Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. Gen Bajwa was informed that almost 150,000 individuals had benefited from medical initiatives, including an active partnership with civil administration, to increase the capacity of the District Headquarters Hospital, Awaran. “Around 200 students in Awaran are being provided free education with boarding and lodging facilities by the army and the FC,” the ISPR said in the statement, adding that a new school had also been established by the FC Balochistan. The COAS lauded the efforts of the army, the FC and other law-enforcement agencies for improving the situation of law and order in the area.
