LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked the Interior Ministry to recover the social media activists of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) that allegedly went missing a few days ago.
In a statement released on PML-N’s Twitter account, he condemned the alleged incidences of forceful disappearance of his party’s social media activists and asked for their immediate recovery. He said that it is the constitutional duty of the government to respect freedom of speech.
He further said that these incidences were an attack on freedom of speech and were in violation of the freedom granted to the people by the Constitution of Pakistan. He also condemned the suppression of the political views of opponents.
Nawaz also said that everyone has a right to express themselves as long as they are not violating the law through their actions.
Earlier this year, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) too alleged that their social media activists had gone missing.
