TTP ‘terrorist’ among three arrested in city

KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department of the Sindh Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three suspects, including a hardcore militant of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan-Swat chapter. According to CTD officials, the suspect, identified as Shoaib Rafiq, was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off from MPR Colony in Orangi Town. CTD In-charge Ahmed Sheikh said that the accused had been involved in various attacks on security forces in Swat and went underground in Karachi. Cases against him were registered, while further investigation was underway. Similarly, the CTD also claim to have arrested another suspect identified as Waleed Hussain during a raid conducted on a tip-off from Korangi neighbourhood. The CTD officials also claim to have recovered arms and ammunitions from his possession. Officials said that the accused was a contract killer who had been involved in various cases of target killing. Meanwhile, in another raid, the CTD police arrested another suspect namely Zohaib alias Golden during a raid conducted in Lyari. Officials said that the accused had been involved in various cases of attacks on law enforcement agencies in Lyari. Cases against him were registered, while further investigation was underway. Meanwhile, the Sindh Rangers on Thursday gunned down a suspected terrorist during an operation in Memon Goth area. As per the details, on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the area, the paramilitary force carried out an operation in Memon Goth. On seeing the Rangers, the terrorists opened fire. The law enforcers retaliated and managed to kill one of them, while his two accomplices fled. The killed terrorist was identified as Ghafoor alias Choto. The officials also recovered weapons from their hideout. The security force sealed the entry and exit routes of the area and started a search operation for the arrest of the escaped ‘terrorists’.
