KHYBER AGENCY: A United Nations (UN) Corner was inaugurated at Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar in a ceremony held at the institute the other day. The event was attended by UN Information Center(IC) Director Vittorio Commarota as the chief guest, IM Sciences Director Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Director General Farman Ullah Anjum. Dr. Mohsin, while highlighting importance of the newly established UN Corner, said students and IM Sciences team were actively engaged in humanitarian activities and the UN Corner would further enlighten the students about the sustainable development goals related to provision of health, education, gender equality, and eradication of poverty from the society. This would also motivate them to engage themselves with people at the grassroots level and communicate the goals to a wider society, he said. IM Sciences Director said the UN Corner would give students the opportunity to contribute to social development. The UN Corner would serve as a reference point for publications from the UN and its partners in Pakistan, he remarked.
