KHYBER AGENCY: A journalist, Islam Gul Afridi, from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency went missing two days ago, his family sources said Monday.

Umar Afridi, the brother of missing media person, said that Islam Gul Afridi had gone to Islamabad three day ago and since then he was missing. No contact had been made with him as his cell phone was switched off, he said.

His brother suspected that his brother had been kidnapped on his way home from Islamabad, saying he never remains untouched with his family for such a long time.

Islam Gul Afridi is a senior tribal journalist, who was striving hard to highlight problems facing tribesmen. The Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) Khyber Agency chapter has expressed its concern over the mysterious missing of their colleague and asked the government to forthwith recover the missing media person and ensure security of the journalist community.

A fresh wave of atrocities against media persons had been unleashed for the last few days. Earlier, Haroon Khan, a journalist from Swabi, was shot dead, while two journalists Mashal and Shah Nawaz Tharakzai were kidnapped by unidentified men.
