Govt would be responsible for any political mishap: Siraj

Author: NNI

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said if there was any political mishap in the country, the current government would be entirely responsible. Talking to delegates at Mansoorah, on Sunday, he said the only agenda of the government was to waste time. The government had proven to be an absolute failure and unable to see the writing on the wall, he said. Siraj-ul-Haq said the economic indicators of the country were touching danger zones and if somebody drew attention towards that, the rulers lost their nerves. He said there was an increase of millions in the unemployed population but the government had no plan for them. He said the politics revolving around a few families and individuals had only given the gifts of lawlessness, wage-price spiral, injustice and taxes to the masses. He said the masses were fed up with the kind of democracy that meant poverty and hunger for the poor but luxuries for a few. He said instead of investing in the country, the rulers had been transferring their wealth abroad and been making false claims of attracting huge foreign investments to the country. The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said the people’s government implied supremacy of law and merit but the current rule of individuals was dictatorship and not rule of the people. He said there had never been a democratic or people’s government in our country in the true sense of the word. He said the masses were unable to get clean drinking water and rural people were fast moving to the urban areas, increasing problems of the cities but the government had no plans for their relief. Siraj-ul-Haq expressed hope that the National Accountability Bureau would be able to arrest the plunderers of national wealth and recover the ill gotten wealth, sparing none. He said the corrupt rulers had on one hand, brought bad name to the country and on the other, saddled the people with heavy debt. He said in the current situation, the Jamaat-e-Islami was the only hope for the masses.
