LARKANA: At least 50 villagers of Soonharo Khan Gadhi village near Mohenjo-daro had been suffering with hepatitis C, it was reported.

The affectees were visited by a media team along with Union Council Chairman Karani Muhammad Juman Bughio.

The ailing, Tufail Ahmed Gadhi, Mumtaz Ali, Sher Khan, Bashir Khan Gadhi and others, told the visitors that underground water of the village had been contaminated with arsenic since 2010. The poisonous water resulted most of the villagers to suffer from hepatitis C and the malady had been still spreading, they said. They said more than ten people had died of the disease so far. They said they were poverty-stricken and unable to get treatment at Larkana. They asked the visiting team for assistance in medical treatment. They said that experts should also be sent to check the causes of poisonous underground water.
