LAHORE: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Syed Khurshid Shah said on Monday that there was no settlement made on the appointment of Justice (r) Javed Iqbal as the new chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Shah said that the opposition has not shown any reservations regarding Iqbal’s appointment.
“Four meetings were held with the members of the opposition and government to finalise the name for the appointment of NAB chairman,” he explained.
He praised Justice (r) Javed Iqbal for his services as the head of Abbottabad Inquiry Commission and added that he has a clean past.
“Iqbal possesses valuable judgement skills,” he said.
He expressed his wish for the new chairman to work without being dictated by anyone.
Justice (r) Javed Iqbal will hold the office on Oct 10 after the retirement of the current NAB chairman, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry.
