A speeding passenger van collided with a tractor trolley near Sinanwan, Muzaffargarh district, resulting in the deaths of four people and leaving 12 others injured, some critically.

The incident occurred while the passenger van was traveling from Kot Addo to Multan. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, transferring the injured to nearby hospitals in Kot Addo and Sinanwan, with many reported in critical condition.

This tragic accident is part of a larger pattern of road incidents in Punjab. In the past 24 hours alone, the Emergency Services Department responded to 1,505 traffic accidents across the province.

Among the injured, 662 people sustained serious injuries and were immediately transferred to district and tehsil hospitals. Additionally, 908 individuals with minor injuries received on-site medical treatment, preventing further strain on local hospitals.

A concerning trend is the high number of motorcycle accidents, which account for 82 percent of the total incidents. In the latest round of accidents, 864 drivers, 521 passengers, 194 pedestrians, and 69 underage drivers were affected.

The provincial capital, Lahore, saw the highest number of victims, with 303 people involved in 384 accidents. Faisalabad and Gujranwala followed, with 122 and 85 victims, respectively.

The data revealed a stark reality about the victims’ demographics: 1,267 men and 312 women were involved in these crashes. Among the injured, 217 were under 18 years old, 922 were between 18 and 40, and 440 were older than 40.

The breakdown of vehicles involved in these accidents includes 1,355 motorcycles, 86 auto rickshaws, 147 cars, 27 vans, 17 buses, 26 trucks, and 118 other vehicles.

Authorities have urged road users to exercise caution, especially as the number of traffic-related incidents continues to rise across the province.
