The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted below-average rainfall across the country this winter season.
In a statement, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz Khan said that Balochistan, in particular, will experience dry and cold conditions throughout December, with no rainfall expected.
Looking ahead, Khan noted that a rain system is anticipated to develop in early January, potentially bringing rain and snow to northern Balochistan.
However, for the rest of the winter, precipitation levels are expected to remain below normal, with the prolonged dry spell affecting water supplies and agriculture in the region.
As winter progresses, the northern areas of Pakistan continue to experience heavy snowfall, which has transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland.
Quetta has recorded temperatures as low as minus 4 degrees Celsius, with cold winds extending to Karachi, which is also feeling the chill.
The PMD has warned of severe cold conditions lasting until at least December 14, with continued cold winds affecting much of the country, from Karachi to Khyber.
The ongoing snowfall in the northern regions is also creating picturesque scenes, as cars, houses, and trees are blanketed in snow.
Popular tourist destinations like Malam Jabba, Kalam in Swat, and Murree are witnessing heavy snowfall, with Murree temporarily seeing a break, allowing tourists to enjoy the beautiful views.
In Shogran, around 300 tourists were recently rescued from the area due to the intense snowfall. The Galiyat region, which has seen a surge in tourism, remains bustling, with snowfall enhancing the charm of the area.
However, with snow expected to continue, the PMD has issued a security alert for Murree and Galiyat to ensure the safety of visitors.
