FATA must be merged into KP: Zardari

PESHAWAR: Former president and co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari said on Tuesday that the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) should be merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was addressing PPP workers in Peshawar.

“Imran Khan cannot handle a dengue outbreak in his province. How will he run the country?” he asked. Zardari said that Imran Khan couldn’t give a ‘new Pakistan’ to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “What will he do in case he becomes the premier? The PTI chairman cannot become a prime minister as he is a naive cricketer,” he added. The PPP co-chairman directed the party workers to ramp up efforts for victory in by-election. Zardari criticised Nawaz Sharif as well. “Why did he leave the Prime Minister’s House if he did not know the reason behind his ousting?” he asked.

He said that Nawaz Sharif had left the PM House owing to the ‘fear of those evicting him”. Earlier, a meeting of the FATA Amendments Committee members with the Prime Minister later in the day was concluded on a positive note after the premier said that the suggestions, including the abolishment of the Frontier Crimes Regulations, would be considered. The committee members expressed their satisfaction with the meeting.
