ABBOTTABAD: The Mashal Khan murder case hearing is being conducted by an Anti-terrorism court (ATC) at Central Jail Haripur where the accused are being held under tight security.

Up till this moment, the cross examination of at least 29 witnesses has been completed in case that is being heard by Judge Fazal Subhan of the ATC.

Mashal Khan was a journalism student at Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University, he was lynched to death by a mob on April 13, who had accused him of blasphemy.

Earlier on September 19, the ATC had bail pleas of 17 accused in the case and indicted 57 suspects in this case.

When the Mashal Khan case hearings began earlier, the petitioner namely Iqbal Khan and the provincial government had asked the court to move the case from Mardan due to fear of the law and order situation in the area.

The petitioner had also stated that families of the accused were trying to pressurize him and he also had doubts about being given a fair trail.

Two members of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) bench ordered the case to be moved to ATC Abbottabad on July 27 meanwhile the accused were also shifted to Central Jail Haripur.
