LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended a seminar on “Economy and security situation” held by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

Addressing the seminar, he said, “Economy and security have a deep relationship with each other and peace in Karachi is our foremost priority because it is the economic hub of Pakistan and whenever the enemy wants to destabilize Pakistan, it strikes there”.

“We have struggled hard for peace and now the internal situation of the country is improving,” he added.

He further said, “Our security preferences are deeply embedded in our economic progress and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is its best example”.

“It is very important to act upon National Action Plan,” he added.

Commenting on the regional security situation, he said, “Weak security situation affects the rich countries too”. To support his point, he also cited examples of Iraq’s attack on Kuwait and Soviet Union’s defeat.

He made it clear that Pakistan wishes to establish good relations with India conditional to mutual respect.
