A private school in Karachi has introduced an AI-powered teacher robot that, for the first time, answers students’ questions promptly and familiarises them with modern technology.

Happy Palace School’s Asfahani Campus in Gulshan-e-Iqbal has appointed its first AI robotic teacher, officially named Miss Aini, with her formal induction on November 1.

The AI-powered teacher is equipped with artificial intelligence and is capable of answering queries in more than 20 languages.

Engineer Hassan Siddiqui, the creator of Miss Aini, revealed that it took him seven months to develop the robotic teacher. The robot was entirely built from scratch, with components such as wiring, fiber glass, plastic, and even synthetic hair sourced from local markets in Karachi.

Speaking to the media, Muhammad Asif Khan, head of Happy Palace School, said that while robotic technology is common globally, they introduced Miss Aini to equip students with technological skills.

He added that the AI teacher assists students with various tasks across different subjects. Future upgrades are planned to enhance the robot’s features for better student support.

Principal Mrs Siddiqui claimed that Miss Aini is the first AI teacher introduced in Pakistan. She revealed that the robot has been officially hired with a monthly salary of PKR 100,000. Capable of responding in over 20 languages, Miss Aini relies solely on Wi-Fi as its source of operation and connectivity.

Vice Principal Sadaf Bhatti highlighted that Miss Aini, the robotic AI teacher, is a full-time instructor who does not take leaves for weather or holidays. Currently teaching seven subjects, the AI teacher project cost over PKR 300,000 to develop.

Sadaf Bhatti clarified that while Miss Aini cannot replace human teachers, it serves as a helpful assistant by answering students’ queries promptly.

Future upgrades will include motion detectors and sensors, enabling the AI teacher to blink, gesture, and interact more effectively with students.The AI teacher pilot project began in March, reached completion in August, and officially commenced classes in November.

Last week during a meeting between Turkish Ambassador Irfan Neziroglu and Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir Shah, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Sindh Assembly was discussed. The focus was on AI’s role in enhancing legislative processes and supporting e-parliament initiatives.

The meeting also touched on strengthening trade, investment, and inter-parliamentary cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan. Speaker Shah outlined plans to train young parliamentarians and improve their legislative skills.

While the Turkish ambassador praised the Sindh Assembly’s strategic plan and called for future cultural and parliamentary exchanges. The meeting concluded with the speaker presenting traditional Sindhi gifts to the Turkish delegation.
