The record of the cases against Shah Mehmood Qureshi was presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court during a hearing of the five cases related to burning police vehicles near Mughalpura, Zaman Park, and Jinnah House.
However, the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Manzar Ali Gill, adjourned the hearing on Qureshi’s bail petitions in the five cases until December 11.
The cases were heard in the Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore, where the police submitted the complete record of the cases to the court.
During the proceedings, Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s lawyer, Rana Mudassar Omar, was absent for arguments.
The assistant lawyer informed the court that the roads were blocked, preventing the senior lawyer from attending the hearing.
The court remarked that the roads had been cleared, and if the lawyer wished to take a new date, it could be arranged.
It is worth noting that Shah Mehmood Qureshi has submitted bail applications from jail for these cases.
Previously, ATC on November 20 indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Ijaz Chaudhary and Dr Yasmeen Rashid in a May 9 riots case.
The case, registered at Mughalpura Police Station, included charges of arson, anarchy, and disrupting law and order against PTI leaders. It stemmed from the incidents of May 9, 2023, following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty and decided to contest the charges in court. They claimed that they had nothing to do with the charges framed against them.
