Balochiostan’s Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has instructed all interprovincial coaches departing from Quetta to operate only during the daytime. RTA Secretary cited ‘unavoidable circumstances’ as the reason for discouraging travel at night, Express News reported.
Meanwhile, a sit-in protest by the family of a child and political leaders at Unity Chowk entered its sixth day, causing significant disruption. Students and employees traveling to schools, colleges, and offices have been struggling with alternate routes.
The development follows a surge in terrorism incidents across Balochistan in recent months, prompting authorities to suspend train operations from Quetta a week ago. Last week, a suicide bombing at the Quetta Railway Station resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people and injured more than 50.
According to police, the attack took place on the platform as passengers gathered for the departure of the Jafar Express, scheduled to leave for Peshawar at 9:00am.
The blast occurred as the platform was crowded with passengers, causing widespread panic.
The explosion, which appeared to be a suicide attack, also injured two railway police officers, Head Constables Ghulam Rasool Jamali and Bhoral Khan, according to SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch.
In response to the attack, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the bombing and called for an immediate investigation into the incident.
