Shireen Mazari, who has distanced herself from active politics, made these allegations after attending a hearing in the Special Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with the 9 May incident cases.
After appearing in the Special Anti-Terrorism Court for the 9 May incident cases, Shireen Mazari spoke to the media, stating, “I am no longer involved in politics. I have informed the judge that I attend every hearing, yet the police continue to harass me.”
She said, “Last night, I received calls from various police stations informing me that arrest warrants had been issued against me. I told the judge that this is terrorism, and my attendance is also recorded. Despite this, on what basis have the arrest warrants been issued?”
She added, “Everything is being done by the Punjab Police, and the current political situation is clear for all to see.”
The allegations come amid significant developments in the 9 May incident cases, where three PTI leaders-Sadaqat Abbasi, Waseem Qayoom, and Umar Tanveer Butt-who had initially agreed to become approvers in the cases, have formally withdrawn their statements and retracted their confessions in court.
Meanwhile Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalized its strategy for a large-scale protest on November 24, with plans to ‘storm’ Islamabad from all directions.
According to sources, the PTI leadership is determined to reach Islamabad at any cost, and significant responsibilities have been assigned to the party’s leadership in Islamabad and Rawalpindi regions.
Sources indicate that the protest will begin with regional leadership organizing mass demonstrations in Rawalpindi and Islamabad until the convoys from other provinces arrive.
PTI has assigned separate routes for each provincial convoy, with the final destination being Islamabad. The leadership is yet to decide on the exact location of the sit-in once they reach the capital.
The party has emphasised that the protest will continue indefinitely, and the core committee members have suggested the possibility of staging the sit-in at D-Chowk.
