In North Waziristan’s Spinwam region, security forces recently conducted three successful operations, eliminating 10 militants and injuring six others. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for their courage and commitment. The ISPR, the army’s media wing, reported that these operations targeted militant hideouts based on precise intelligence, recovering weapons and ammunition.
The militants, branded as “Khawarij” for their extremist views, were responsible for multiple attacks on security forces and civilians. Following these raids, clearance operations continue to ensure the area is safe. Interior Minister Naqvi highlighted that the security forces acted with decisiveness, foiling the terrorists’ plans and reinforcing the nation’s confidence in their dedication. A second operation in Spinwam also successfully blocked an infiltration attempt by terrorists from Afghanistan. In a third raid, further threats were neutralized.
Pakistan’s involvement in the US-led War on Terror in the early 2000s transformed its landscape, turning once-peaceful areas into militant strongholds. Afghan extremists and their spillover effects brought violence into Pakistan. Over time, Pakistan’s security has been repeatedly challenged by both internal and external threats. Countries hostile to Pakistan, such as India, have allegedly funded and supported militants and separatist groups like Baloch insurgents. Their objective has been to destabilize Pakistan and disrupt its unity.
Beyond internal chaos, these militants target strategic projects, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). October saw intensified attacks on Chinese engineers and staff working on CPEC projects, aiming to sabotage Pakistan-China relations. Despite these assaults, China has reaffirmed its strong partnership with Pakistan, showing resilience in the face of adversities.
In response, Pakistan’s security forces have shown remarkable resolve. They continue to make sacrifices to protect the country’s sovereignty, often facing great risks. The nation stands solidly behind these brave soldiers, recognizing their dedication to restoring peace and stability.
The military’s unwavering commitment remains crucial to neutralizing threats, not only in North Waziristan but also in Balochistan and other areas. Lasting peace and security can only be achieved by eliminating extremist groups and external influences. With continued efforts, Pakistan moves closer to securing a stable and peaceful future for its citizens. *
