Brutal Assault on Innocent Civilians

Author: Rakhshanda Mehtab

The morning of November 9 in Quetta was filled with sadness and despair as the loud explosion from a bomb blast echoed through the city, marking yet another tragic day in the ongoing violence that affects the region.

This blast on the railway station claimed the lives of 24 innocent individuals and left 40 others injured. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for this attack. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has been committing violent terrorist operations against Pakistan for a long time.

The BLA is a militant separatist group active since the early 2000s. Over the years, the BLA has consistently targeted both military and civilian entities in its quest for an independent Baloch state. For instance, in August 2024, the BLA orchestrated a series of attacks on police stations, railway lines, and highways across Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of at least 73 people.

By targeting innocent individuals and sabotaging economic projects that could benefit the entire region, the BLA’s approach is counterproductive.

The BLA attacks foreign investments and infrastructure projects, especially those supported by China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), to sabotage crucial business prospects that may benefit the entire region.

The BLA’s actions raise serious doubts about their true intentions. If they genuinely wish for the progress of the Baloch region, their tactics seem to contradict this goal. By targeting innocent individuals and sabotaging economic projects that could benefit the entire region, the BLA’s approach is counterproductive. These actions not only cause immense suffering but also undermine any claim they might have to seek justice and rights for the Baloch people. Instead of fostering development and peace, their violence perpetuates a cycle of fear and destruction, questioning their commitment to the betterment of their community.

The victims of this senseless violence were ordinary people, going about their daily lives. Their untimely deaths leave a void in the hearts of their families and communities. The continuous cycle of violence has severe implications not only for the security of the region but also for its economic and social development. Every attack sets back the progress and aspirations of countless individuals and families striving for a better life. Those who take the lives of innocent people do not deserve any kind of mercy. Their violent actions only create more suffering and make it harder to achieve peace and development.

As we think about the heartbreaking loss of life from the recent attack, we need to remember that real progress and justice can only come through peaceful and constructive dialogue. The unity and strength of our nation are crucial in facing such challenges.

Let’s honour the courage of our fallen soldiers and innocent civilians by working together to create a future free from the terror of violence.
