UMT president pays tribute to Allama Iqbal, calls for self-reliance

Addressing a seminar on Iqbal Day, Former Minister and President of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) Ibrahim Hasan Murad paid tribute to Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the renowned poet and philosopher whose visionary ideas continue to inspire and guide generations.

Ibrahim Hasan Murad highlighted that Iqbal Day is a reminder of the visionary ideas and aspirations that Dr. Iqbal instilled in the hearts and minds of our forefathers. Iqbal imagined a society grounded in knowledge, moral integrity, and self-determination. His vision for a progressive and inclusive nation remains a guiding light for us all.

Former Minister Ibrahim Murad shared that Iqbal’s philosophy of Khudi (selfhood) and self-reliance are essential for the nation to embrace in overcoming contemporary challenges. He underscored the importance of Iqbal’s message of unity and solidarity, especially amid today’s political and social divisions. Iqbal’s call for self-awareness and empowerment was a call not only to individuals but to entire nation, he stated.

Ibrahim Murad also emphasized the critical role of education, innovation, and cultural empowerment in realizing Iqbal’s vision for a society that harmonizes modernity with its rich cultural heritage. President UMT reaffirmed UMT’s commitment to nurturing a society that represents the standards championed by Iqbal, emphasizing the significance of youth empowerment, cultural preservation and nation-building.
