Pakistan’s Sufyan wins ‘FIH Rising Star of the Year’ award

LAHORE: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced the winners of the FIH Hockey Stars Awards at the FIH Centennial Gala held in Muscat, Oman on the occasion of the 49th FIH Statutory Congress, the other day. Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan won the FIH Rising Star of the Year award. There were five nominations in each category for players (men & women): FIH Best Player, FIH Best Goalkeeper and FIH Rising Star of the Year awards. Sufyan was the lone Pakistani among the 30 nominees. Bannu born Sufyan, who has been representing Pakistan since 2022, is yet another product of country’s bespoke hockey nursery, Dar Hockey Academy. He honed his skills at the Dar Academy in Lahore from 2020 to 2022, when he won his first national selection.
