Trump’s victory won’t impact Pakistan-US bilateral ties: FO

Author:

Pakistan’s Foreign Office has reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the United States following Donald Trump’s recent election win.

This comes as the two countries mark over seven decades of diplomatic engagement, dating back to Pakistan’s independence in 1947. Throughout this period, the U.S. and Pakistan have cooperated in various sectors, including defense, trade, and counterterrorism, despite occasional challenges and differences. Both nations have often underscored the importance of maintaining strong bilateral ties to ensure stability in the South Asian region, with Pakistan being a key player in U.S. foreign policy strategies concerning Asia.

In a gesture of goodwill, the President and Prime Minister extended their congratulations to Trump, while the Foreign Office spokesperson highlighted the deep-rooted history of the U.S.-Pakistan relationship. He expressed confidence that the transition in American leadership would not disrupt the enduring partnership. Instead, the spokesperson voiced optimism for further strengthening of ties, underscoring Pakistan’s interest in pursuing mutual goals and enhancing cooperation on regional and global challenges.
