Entry of heavy vehicles banned in Lahore

Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) on Monday adopted strict measures to curb thick smog in the provincial metropolis by banning entry of heavy vehicles in the city. According to an EPA notification, after closure of primary schools for one in week a ban was also imposed on the entry of heavy vehicles into the provincial capital. No heavy vehicle will be allowed to enter the city on Fridays and Sundays. Possession of Vehicle Inspection & Certification System (VICS) certification made mandatory for all those trucks loaded with fuel, food and medicines, the notification said. Ambulances and fire-bridge vehicles will be exempted from this ban. All heavy vehicles can enter the city on their scheduled timings except on Fridays and Sundays.
