DUBAI: Former president Pervez Musharraf welcomed and supported the Supreme Court (SC) verdict to disqualify Nawaz Sharif and called for his punishment on Friday.

“The court has delivered a bold decision which is based on justice,” Musharraf said that in a video message posted online. He said that the JIT members also showed boldness and carried out good investigation despite threats.

“I fully support the verdict. It is good decision to disqualify Nawaz Sharif,” said the former military ruler, who is wanted in several cases including high treason but had gone abroad on medial plea but is not returning home.

Several courts have declared Musharraf absconder, who lives in London and UK. Musharraf said that Nawaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar and others should be tried for corrupt practices and decision should be taken under the law.

“They should not be allowed to go abroad.  They should be punished,” the former dictator said.
