ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Zardari on Sunday condemned the statement of AJK prime minister in which he said that after the Supreme Court’s decision against Nawaz Sharif the Kashmiris will rethink whether they wished to join Pakistan or India.
Addressing a press conference along with Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman, AJK PM Raja Farooq Haider said on Saturday that the Kashmiris would now think with which country they should seek annexation of their territory.
In a statement, Zardari condemned the remarks of AJK PM as “atrocious and insulting to the decades long freedom struggle of Kashmiris and their right to self determination promised to them by the UN”.
“How can the UN Resolutions and the inalienable right of Kashmiris to self determination be bartered away with the disqualification of Mr Nawaz Sharif by a judicial process,” he asked.
Terming the remarks as “totally unacceptable” Zardari also demanded of the AJK PM to retract his statement and apologise to the Kashmiris.
