ISLAMABAD: To celebrate the Supreme Court’s verdict in Panama Papers case, a large number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers poured into Islamabad on Saturday from various parts of the country.

An eight-feet high and ninety feet wide stage was set up in a ground originally established for the Pakistan Day parade near Shakarparian. The PTI supporters started reaching the venue starting on Sunday afternoon. The site was full to the capacity by the evening.

The fully-prepared participants were wearing the PTI’s trademark red and green caps. The enthusiasm of the party workers was apparent from their painted faces.

Moreover, to further raise the energy and zeal, various singers cast a spell with their melodious voices over the crowd by singing national and party songs.

To entertain and provide refreshment to the people coming from outside the federal capital, numerous stalls of eatables had also been set up at the venue. The local vendors made a hefty profit due to the quick business.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan waved to his supporters after reaching the stage. He was joined by Shaikh Rasheed, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Chaudhry Sarwar, Barrister Sultan Mahmood and other PTI leaders.

While talking to Daily Times, a PTI worker Naeemzada hailing from KPK said: “We are here to celebrate the historic judgment passed by the judges of Supreme Court, which initiated the process to end dynastic politics from the country.”

“Imran Khan is the only leader who is brave enough to challenge the status quo of the country. So that’s why we follow him,” he said.

Hundreds of PTI workers, who were stuck in traffic jam at the Expressway, parked their cars by the roadside and left for the rally on foot. Motorcyclists used the green belt between the roads as a parking lot.

A special enclosure for women workers was also established by the management. The organisers deputed their workers to quickly tackle any untoward situation.

Nearly, 1,600 personnel of Islamabad Police were deployed for the rally’s security. A giant screen was set up in front of the main stage at the venue. The Islamabad Traffic Police had also prepared a traffic plan to avoid traffic jams on the roads around the venue.

The main leadership of the PTI, including Chairman Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tareen, Pervez Khattak and a large number of PTI parliamentarians were present on the stage.

The leaders once again lambasted the corruption of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).

The participants said that the Supreme Court’s decision was a result of Imran Khan’s deterrence against the corruption committed by the house of Sharifs.
