Keep Saudi Arabia out of your politics: PUC

Author: Press Release

LAHORE: Enemies of Pakistan and Islam are harbouring conspiracies to disrupt brotherly relations between Pakistan and Arab countries. Amidst this challenging scenario, political leadership of Pakistan should stay away from hurling baseless allegations against Arab countries, said Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC).

Addressing the office-bearers of Pakistan Ulema Council Punjab chapter, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi stated that patriotic and loyal forces of Pakistan should get united to contain conspiracies of the enemies of Islam and Pakistan. Ashrafi also resolved on the occasion that August would be observed as a month for “Stability of Pakistan”, and conferences, seminars and rallies by Pakistan Ulema Council would be arranged in the month all over the country.

Religious and political leadership of the country should play its role for the stability of Pakistan, said Ashrafi, adding that all political forces of the country demonstrated a positive line of action by accepting the verdict of the apex court in the Panamagate case.

He also stated that if the parliament had devised an effective and cohesive accountability process in the country, the situation might not have been as problematic for the ruling elite as it had become today. Transparent accountability should also be held against elements plundering national assets and acquitting loans for decades, said Ashrafi, adding that across-the-board impartial accountability should be ensured in the country.

“Political leadership of Pakistan has always sought assistance from Saudi Arabia to redress internal crises in Pakistan but the Saudi leadership never intervened in the internal affairs of Pakistan,” said the PUC chief. He also said that some political elements were hurling baseless allegations against Saudi Arabia. “If they have some evidence in this regard, they should come forward with evidence and stay away from hurling baseless allegations to disrupt Pak-Arab bilateral relations.”

He said that conspiracies were also being harboured to hurt the bilateral relations of Pakistan with other Islamic countries.
