PESHAWAR: Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai Wazir suddenly announced that she is quitting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday.
“Regretfully, I am informing you that I am quitting the party,” she said that while talking to media. She alleged that, “Respectful female workers have been humiliated due to party chairman Imran Khan.”
“I belong to a Pakhtun family and respect and dignity is everything for us. I have been tolerating this for very long time. Rest details will be shared in a press conference,” she said.
Ayesha Gulalai had joined PTI in 2012 and was nominated as a member of the PTI central committee. She was indirectly elected as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan for first time on PTI ticket on a reserved seat for women from the FATA in Pakistani general election, 2013.
Earlier on July 16, Naz Baloch joined Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), alleging that the PTI’s focus is centered on Punjab and not Sindh.
Baloch alleged that the PTI has been unable to deliver on its promise of representing the youth and its leadership is also sidelining the female members.
