Science exhibition held in Sukkur

SUKKUR: Sukkur Institute of Business Administration in collaboration with Community Development Programme, Planning and Development Board, Government of Sindh organised a summer science exhibition where 50 projects were put on display.

The purpose of the event was to offer opportunity to class IX and X government schools’ students to showcase their projects during their 20-day training in Summer Science Camp. Students from various government schools displayed their projects.

The aim of this event was also to impart inquiry-based science education to students of under-privileged background at Sukkur IBA’s five Community Colleges.

It also explored hidden potential among students of government schools to become future scientists and technologists.

The faculty of Community Colleges taught students Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science through projects and practical activities in groups.

Vice Chancellor Sukkur Institute, Prof Nisar Ahmed Siddqui said, science and Mathematics are the mother of all discipline.

“If we want to be among developed countries, it is only possible when our youth play major role in success of the country”.

Registrar, Engr Zahid Hussain Khand said, “If we see around, all inventions are possible because of science. Students should start critical thinking, only then they can understand those inventions”.

Noor Hussain Shar, Project Head Summer Science Camp said that there was no quality education in government schools. Quality of science education is also poor. There is huge gap of science teachers and well-equipped science laboratories in government schools. Around 600 students and 70 teachers from government schools participated in the project.

Students from different schools also shared their experience, learning and how activity helped them enhancing their knowledge and skills.
