BAHAWALPUR: After the presentation of a resolution in the Punjab Assembly regarding the restoration of Bahawalpur province, Sooba Bahawalpur Ittehad Chairperson Aasia Kamil, High Court Bar Association, (Bahawalpur) President Nawazish Ali Peerzada and others demanded the formation of small administrative units for the solution of economic problems across the country.

Addressing a news conference at the Bahawalpur Press Club on Tuesday, they said that resources reserved for Bahawalpur were being spent lavishly upon the completion of different mega projects in Lahore.

The main aim to hold a press conference was to remind the PML-N government of the promise made five years ago on May 9, 2012; if they were voted into power in the Centre, they would restore Bahawalpur province. However, they have failed to implement their own resolution presented in the Punjab Assembly five years ago.

They claimed that the Centre collects a revenue of Rs 400 billion from the region but the area was still deprived of basic facilities of life. Earlier, they protested before the press club for the restoration of Bahawalpur province.
